Year 10 Art and Textiles Students Take Park in Exciting Future Foundry Workshop
Year 10 Art and Textiles students recently had the incredible opportunity to participate in Dover’s Future Foundry in-house workshops, working alongside professional artists and textile designers. Over the course of two days, the students were off timetable, experiencing a unique, hands-on learning environment that was both educational and fun.
The theme of the workshops was nature-inspired art and reusable fabrics. Textiles students were challenged to recreate a new top from an old T-shirt, promoting sustainability and creativity. Meanwhile, Art students crafted their own tools from wood, which they later used to produce nature-inspired art pieces. On the final day, all students contributed to a collaborative project by sewing onto fabric leaves, adding a personal touch to the nature theme.
These workshops not only allowed students to develop their practical skills but also provided them with valuable pieces for their GCSE Fine Art and GCSE Textile Design coursework. Their finished works will be displayed at Dover’s Charlton Centre over the half-term break, showcasing the creativity and talent of Dover’s young artists. So please come along!
This was a fantastic experience for our students, offering them a new way of learning while having fun and exploring their creative potential!
