Travel & Tourism

Vocational courses

Vocational courses give students the chance to:

  • carry out more research of their own
  • find out about an area of work which interests them
  • take part in work experience, work shadowing or visits
  • take fewer exams and produce more assignments
  • build their confidence and social skills.

G.C.E Travel and Tourism

This is a two year course for the six unit single award (equivalent to one ‘A’ Level).
Students take the following units over the two years:
 
AS     Unit 1:      Inside Travel and Tourism (exam)
  Unit 2: Travel and Tourism - A People Industry (portfolio)
  Unit 3: Travel Destinations (portfolio)
     
A2 Unit 8: Travel and Tourism Project (portfolio)
  Unit 9: Travel and Tourism - People and Quality (exam)
  Unit 10: Current Issues in Travel and Tourism (portfolio)

BTEC First Diploma in Travel and Tourism

This is a one year course covering 6 units, which is equivalent to 4 GCSE’s A*-C grade.
The units are all assessed by portfolio using contemporary case studies and visits.

Unit 1:      The UK Travel and Tourism Industry
Unit 2: Exploring Customer Service in Travel and Tourism
Unit 3: UK Travel and Tourism Destinations
Unit 5: Exploring Marketing Travel and Tourism
Unit 7: Developing employability skills for Travel and Tourism
Unit 8: Planning visits for Travel and Tourism

BTEC First Certificate in Travel and Tourism

This is a one year course covering 3 units, which is equivalent to 2 GCSE’s A*-C grade. Offered to Year 10 students

Unit 1:      The UK Travel and Tourism Industry
Unit 2: Exploring Customer Service in Travel and Tourism
Unit 7: Developing employability skills for Travel and Tourism
 
The units are assessed by portfolio.
