2000 in 10 - Haiti Results
logo.gifMr Reed, Head of St Edmund’s Catholic School in Dover issued a challenge not only to St Edmund’s Catholic School, as part of the Federation of Dover Catholic Schools, but to the local community as a whole – to try to raise £2,000 in just 10 school days!

Ten school days of fundraising, and fun-raising, have followed including some outstanding contributions from students, families, local businesses and individuals.  As a community, St Edmund’s has raised money through a Boot Fair (very successful), fun run, a ‘Hats and Hairstyles for Haiti’ day (year7), sponsored silences (one student single-handedly raised £100 in sponsorship!), cake sales, 3-legged days, collections at assemblies (with a guest speaker from the International Search and Rescue Team) and culminating in a hugely successful ‘Haiti flag-themed non-uniform day’ on Friday February 5th.

By 2pm on Friday, St Edmund’s staff (willingly volunteering to keep count) declared that we had not only met, but passed our target of £2,000 – and the money is still coming in!  We have still to have further sponsored silences, fashion / talent shows and a host of other activities as our students continue to respond magnificently to the plight of those in Haiti.

Our website will still hold information about other forthcoming events, so please keep checking.

As Head of St Edmund’s I am extremely proud to announce that our 2000 in 10 challenge has been overwhelmingly successful – I would like to thank all of our contributors for their support of this appeal, and in particular all of the staff and students of the school and federation who have given their time, their energy and their money to the survivors in Haiti.  Well done, and thank you – we did it!

You can still donate, and still take part - let’s keep making a difference!
