2000 in 10 – St Edmund’s Catholic School HAITI CHALLENGE

St. Edmund's LogoSt Edmund’s Catholic School, as part of the Federation of Dover Catholic Schools has issued a challenge to students, parents, local community and local businesses – we are aiming to collect £2,000 in just 10 days to support those affected by the earthquake in Haiti.

No one can remain untouched by the startling scenes that we saw in Haiti after the earthquake struck, and so St Edmund’s students have responded and want to make a difference with the local community of Dover.

What we are doing:

•     Boot fair at the school Saturday 23rd January (9am) which will support the appeal
•     ‘Themed day’ where students will wear the colours of the Haitian flag (blue at the top, red below)               on Friday 5th February
•     Cake sales, talent shows and other fundraising events still to come

What you can do:

Please make a donation through St Edmund’s -  there will be collection points at St Edmund’s school every day over the next two weeks – we would love to add our donations to yours to exceed our target.

Join in the activities that will be hosted at St Edmund’s – details will be updated on our website.

Information for students

  • Please speak to your family and friends, talk to them about the disaster in Haiti, and ask if they can make a donation – however small.

  • Bring the money into school, and make your donation through the school office.

  • Ask parents / family if they are already collecting at work – if not, maybe they could be the one to start a collection, or suggest that we ‘pool’ our donations all together to demonstrate that we are one community.

  • We are trying to meet the “2000 in 10” target - £2,000 in ten days.  To help that, there will be a ‘themed’ Tag day on Friday 5th February when we will be asking students to dress in Haitian flag colours (blue top, red below) – at the cost of £1 each.

I would be overjoyed if, as a local community, we can not only meet but exceed our £2,000 target in the next ten days – with everyone’s help we can do it!

Anything you and your friends can do to raise money for the people of Haiti would be greatly appreciated.

In our recent OfSTED report, this was said about St Edmund’s…

The school has established outstanding support for and participation in the wider community, in which students play a key role” – Let’s show them they were right!

Thank you in advance for your support – together we can make a difference to the people of Haiti
